MXLFORCE METROLOGY

Multi-component force measurement

Multi-axis load cells.
Force, resolved.

Multi-axis load cells for robotic contact, precision testing and force-platform development. Define your 2-axis, 3-axis or 6-axis measurement chain.

Choose the measured components

Three forces. Six components. One defined load path.

A triaxial force sensor measures Fx, Fy and Fz. A six-axis force/torque sensor adds Mx, My and Mz. A biaxial sensor resolves a selected pair. Start with what the application needs to know.

Signal integrity before integration

Keep each axis in time.

Changing contact forces need synchronized acquisition. Define the bridge output, calibration, channel timing and controller interface as one system.

Request a matched analog PLC conditioner or USB / RS485 digitizer. EtherCAT support is assessed against the selected module and controller.

Ftotal = √(Fx² + Fy² + Fz²). The ratio μ = √(Fx² + Fy²) / |Fz| assumes Fz is aligned with the known surface normal and quasi-static contact. It is not a general surface-angle measurement. Illustrative math only; no live sensor data.

Three engineering decisions

Turn selection uncertainty into a reviewable specification.

01 / Crosstalk

What does the other axis see?

Define cross-axis response, the full-scale denominator and the loaded direction. Mechanical decoupling and calibration need to be assessed together.

02 / Replacement

Which interfaces must match?

Review the exact Interface, FUTEK, ME or ATI reference drawing, load envelope, bridge outputs and acquisition system.

03 / Configuration

What is the real load case?

Share shear and normal capacities, tool offset, footprint, bandwidth and application. Confirm a configuration before fixing commercial terms.
